SGS

About SGS

Independent solar advice for New Zealand.

Our loyalty belongs to one party only - the customer.

Who we are

An advisor, not a seller.

SGS - So Good Solar - is an independent solar advisory and installation coordination company based in Auckland, New Zealand. We are not tied to any single installer or brand.

New Zealand's solar market is growing rapidly, but quality, pricing transparency and technical standards vary widely. SGS exists to help customers make informed, safe and long-term optimal decisions in a complex market.

How we're paid

Free advice. Transparent fees.

  • Your initial consultation is free - quote comparison, system-design review and ROI analysis cost you nothing.
  • If you decide to proceed with an installer we coordinate, SGS may receive a coordination fee from that installer. This fee does not increase the price you pay - and we disclose it before you sign.
  • Our income only ever comes from completed, satisfied installs. We have zero incentive to push a system you don't need.

Our vision

New Zealand's most trusted solar advisory.

So every home and business can transition to clean energy with confidence - making well-informed decisions that are right for their roof, their usage and their future.

  • Solar energy is a key part of the future energy landscape.
  • Installing solar does not automatically mean installing the right solar.
  • Proper system design matters more than brand names.

Our core values

Four principles, every project.

Client-First, Always

Every recommendation we make is judged by one standard: what serves you best over the next 25 years.

Grounded in Real Numbers

Real production estimates, consumption patterns, ROI calculations and risk analysis - so every choice rests on numbers, not narratives.

Safety & Compliance First

New Zealand has strict electrical safety requirements, yet poor installations still exist in the market. SGS only works with installers who meet New Zealand electrical safety and AS/NZS installation standards.

Long-Term Value, Not Lowest Price

The cheapest system often means undersized inverters, poor panel configuration, no shading or orientation analysis and weak after-sales support. We help customers avoid these hidden costs.
